The best forex backtesting software for Nigerian traders (2026)
Most backtesting tools were built for desktop traders in America and Europe, priced in dollars and packed with more than a trader needs. PlayBack Forex was built by a trader for traders: everything you need to test a strategy honestly, nothing you don’t, in naira and made to work properly on the phone in your hand.
What makes PlayBack Forex different
- Built for your phoneA real phone layout, not a squeezed desktop: one-thumb PlayBack controls, one-tap Buy/Sell, swipe between pairs and timeframes, and a bottom tab bar for Watchlist, Charts, Trade and Analytics.
- In-depth analyticsA full trading report after every session: profit factor, Sharpe ratio, recovery factor, drawdowns, streaks, results by hour and day, Monte Carlo and every figure a strategy tester shows.
- Simple to usePick a pair, click a candle, press play. No setup, no downloads, no menus full of features traders never use.
- Priced in nairaFree to start. Pro is ₦500 for 24 hours or ₦3,000 for 30 days, by card or bank transfer, with no auto-renewal and no dollar card needed.
- Real history since 201537 markets: 28 forex pairs, gold, silver, oil and five stock indices, 1-minute candles to the latest week.
- Made for how Nigerians tradeGuides in Nigerian time (WAT), ICT and SMC workflows, and prop-firm rules you can rehearse with a daily loss and drawdown limit.
Backtesting on your phone, done properly
Most Nigerian traders chart on their phones, yet most backtesting tools treat the phone as an afterthought. PlayBack Forex was designed for it: the chart fills the screen, the PlayBack controls sit under your thumb, and Buy, Sell and lot size are one tap away while the candles play.
Analytics that tell you the truth about a strategy
A backtest is only as good as what it teaches you. When a PlayBack ends, PlayBack Forex gives you a trading report as detailed as a professional strategy tester, explained in plain words (tap the ⓘ next to any number):
- Summary: net profit, profit factor, win rate, maximum drawdown, recovery factor, Sharpe ratio, expected payoff, balance and equity curve, results by month.
- Profit/Loss, Long/Short and Symbols: where the money came from: buys vs sells, pair by pair, over time.
- Risks: drawdown chart, losing streaks, when you open trades (by hour, weekday and month), and a Monte Carlo test that shows how much of the result was luck.
- Tester report: every figure a MetaTrader strategy tester shows, including AHPR, GHPR, Z-score and LR correlation, plus MFE and MAE charts that show how far each trade went for and against you.
- Sessions: every PlayBack session saved, so you can compare them side by side and see whether you are improving.
- PDF and CSV: save the whole report or export every trade.
The Free plan shows the Summary; Pro opens every tab. New to these numbers? Read win rate, profit factor and drawdown explained.
How the other tools compare
This is our view as traders who have used these tools. Plans and prices change, so check each provider’s website for their current offer.
TradingView Bar Replay
Excellent charts, but it is a charting platform first and a backtesting tool second. Going back on intraday timeframes and many features need paid plans priced in dollars, which is expensive if all you want is to backtest. There is no detailed backtest report.
FX Replay
Built for backtesting and popular with prop-firm traders, but priced in dollars, and the cheapest plan leaves out a lot of the features traders actually want; the good ones sit on the higher plans.
Forex Tester
A long-established simulator with a lot of power, and a lot of complexity to learn. Priced in dollars and built for desktop.
TradeCasa
We tested it ourselves and found it doesn’t work the way a real backtest should, so we can’t recommend it for testing a strategy.
MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester
Free and the standard for testing automated strategies (Expert Advisors). It isn’t made for trading a chart by hand, candle by candle, the way price-action, ICT and SMC traders test.

Trade it like it’s live
PlayBack Forex gives you a proper order ticket: market and pending orders, stop loss and take profit in pips or price, 1R to 3R targets, risk sizing in dollars or percent, trailing stops, break-even and partial close, with spread and commission you set.
Which one should you choose?
If you test strategies by hand (price action, ICT, SMC, supply and demand), trade from your phone, want a report that shows exactly what is working, and want to pay in naira, PlayBack Forex is made for you. Start free, run one full backtest using our step-by-step guide, and see the difference. Only automated strategies (Expert Advisors) need a different tool: the MT5 Strategy Tester.
